Microsoft Designer

What is Microsoft Designer?

Microsoft Designer is an AI-powered graphic design app from Microsoft. It creates designs and images from text prompts and offers templates for social posts, invitations, banners and other layouts.

Key capabilities of Microsoft Designer

• Prompt-to-design: Generate layouts from a text description.
• AI image generation: Create original images inside a design.
• Templates: Starting layouts for posts, invitations and banners.
• Brand kits: Apply consistent fonts, colors and logos to designs.
• Photo editing: Remove backgrounds and edit images.
• Microsoft 365 access: Available alongside Microsoft 365 apps.

How Microsoft Designer works

You describe the design you want, and Designer proposes layouts and images, which you edit in a canvas editor with text, backgrounds and brand assets. Finished designs can be exported or shared. AI generation draws on credits, and Microsoft 365 subscriptions provide higher limits.

Who uses Microsoft Designer?

Microsoft Designer is used by small business owners, marketers and individuals who need quick social graphics without design skills. It integrates with the Microsoft account many users already have.

Microsoft Designer pricing

Microsoft Designer is free to use with a Microsoft account. Microsoft 365 subscriptions raise AI generation limits. Exact subscription prices depend on the Microsoft 365 plan and region.

Microsoft Designer alternatives

Alternatives include Canva, which has a large template library and team features, Adobe Express, which ties into Adobe Firefly generative tools, and Visme, which focuses on presentations and infographics.
